25th Annual VVER Forum Meeting

The 25th annual meeting of the Forum of Nuclear Safety Regulatory Authorities of the Countries Operating VVER Type Reactors (VVER Forum) took place on 19 and 20 June 2018 in Astravets, Belarus. The VVER Forum was attended by the Rostechnadzor delegation headed by Deputy Chairman Alexey Ferapontov.

The senior officials and experts from the nuclear safety regulatory bodies of Bulgaria, China, the Czech Republic, Finland, Hungary, Iran, Slovakia and Ukraine attended the VVER Forum, with Belarus, Germany and the IAEA participating as observers.

The participants reported on the most safety significant and relevant occurrences at the VVER nuclear plants and shared information on the latest developments in the area of nuclear and radiation safety regulation that had taken place in their countries since the 24th VVER Forum held in May 2017, in Isfahan, Iran.

The meeting participants discussed the activities of all other VVER Forum working groups over the reporting period and candidates to become a new chairman of the Working Group on Ageing Management of NPPs with VVER Reactors. The final decision will be taken in the regular course of business.

As part of the meeting programme, the participant visited the Belarusian NPP construction site.
