22nd Annual VVER Forum

The 22nd annual meeting of the Forum of State Nuclear Safety Authorities of the Countries Operating VVER Type Reactors (VVER Forum) took place on September 2 to 4, in Yerevan, Armenia. The VVER Forum was attended by the Rostechnadzor delegation led by Deputy Chairman Alexey Ferapontov.

The senior officials and experts from the nuclear regulatory bodies of Armenia, Bulgaria, Finland, Hungary, Iran, Slovakia and Ukraine attended the VVER Forum, with Belarus, Germany and the IAEA participating as observers.
The sessions included updates on the most safety significant and relevant occurrences in the VVER nuclear plants. The participants also shared information on the changes in nuclear and radiation safety practices they had seen since the 21st VVER Forum that was held in June 2014, in Helsinki, Finland.

Reports on the activities of the working groups established by the decisions of the 20th VVER Forum were presented – the Reactor Physics Working Group and the Probabilistic Safety Analysis Working Group led by Russia and Armenia, respectively.
The next VVER Forum meeting will be hosted by Rostechnadzor and held tentatively in July 2016, in Russia.
